Assistant Engineer (CCL, FSC, Communication)


Job Purpose

The Assistant Engineer, Communications is responsible to perform Preventive & Corrective Maintenance of Circle Line’s Communication systems, such as Radio, CCTV, Public Address, Telephony, Traveler Information System.


The duties and responsibilities of an Assistant Engineer, Communications are as listed below. Note that the list is not comprehensive and related duties and responsibilities may be assigned from time to time.

  • Performing maintenance work on Circle Line Communication systems, such as Radio, CCTV, Public Address, Telephony, Traveler Information System, etc. and for the general housekeeping, safety and security of all the COM equipment rooms and home office areas at all times.
  • Oversee the daily maintenance activities of COM system and equipment. Second line (at component level) repair may be assigned when appropriate.
  • Plan and schedule Preventive Maintenance (PM) works, perform Corrective Maintenance (CM) or tests, record all faults reported and complete work orders within specified times.
  • Follow up on faults and CM works and record activities, labor, and material in Maintenance Management System.
  • Assist in the safety inspection/audits of COM system/equipment.
  • Provide maintenance support in major fault-finding and investigation.
  • Assist in the provision of technical advice, information, and instructions to demonstrate a particular application or operation of equipment to the staff.
  • Assist occasionally in the supervision of works carried by LTA/SMRT contractors.
  • Respond to occasional recall after duty hours or for overtime work.
  • Assist in the training of new staff.
  • Carry out any duty as assigned and directed by Engineering Maintenance Manager.

Qualifications & Work Experience

  • Diploma in Electrical or Electronics Engineering from any recognized institution 
  • Able to perform 3 rotating shifts work
  • Possess good analytical as well as technical skills in troubleshooting.
  • Able to interpret electronic/electrical single line drawings, statistical charts, figures, technical measurements, and results
  • Able to work independently
  • Possess basic MS Office skills 
  • Holds a Class 3 driving license
