Assistant Engineer, Condition Monitoring

Job Purpose
Railway infrastructure such as tracks, tunnels and viaducts are inspected and monitored routinely to ensure safe use. Increasingly, inspection technologies such as photo imaging systems, laser and ultrasonic scan systems are used alongside traditional track visual inspection methods to determine the condition of the infrastructure.
Railway buildings and facilities are also equipped with smart environmental control, pump monitoring and lift control systems. These building condition monitoring systems could be OEM proprietary systems or third-party solutions.
The job of the Assistant Engineer, Condition Monitoring is to lead a small team to operate the condition monitoring systems, acquire data and/or retrieve data from the condition monitoring systems for processing.
Responsibilities
The duties and responsibilities of the Assistant Engineer, Condition Monitoring are as listed below. The list is not exhaustive, and related duties and responsibilities may be assigned from time to time.
- Supervise Technical Officers in the operation of condition monitoring systems and retrieval of acquired data for processing.
- Perform user-level troubleshooting of condition monitoring systems when faults arise and work with the maintenance team to restore the systems.
- Conduct preliminary post-processing of acquired data and identify urgent defects requiring immediate maintenance action. Alert the maintenance team to such immediate action requirements.
- Ensure that work is carried out in accordance with Work Instructions and in compliance with SMRT safety policies.
Qualifications & Work Experience
Diploma qualification in the Mechanical / Mechatronic / Electrical Engineering field or equivalent with at least 5 years of experience.
