Assistant Engineer, Electrical, Mechanical & Fire - Thomson-East Coast Line

Job Purpose

To carry out/ perform Electrical, Mechanical and Fire (EMF) line maintenance activities, investigate incident/ accidents, carry out checks to ensure safety aspects are met and guarantee quality assurance for overall achievement of maintenance requirements in compliance to SMRT Quality objective as stated in the Quality Procedures (QP)/ Work Instructions (WI)/ Tasklists. 

Responsibilities

  • To lead and manage a team of Technical Officers (TO) to carry out preventive maintenance (PM) and corrective maintenance (CM) works on EMF equipment and system in compliance with SMRT Quality and Safety procedures and requirement.
  • To plan team maintenance work schedule and execute the scheduled PM/ CM works according to team manpower in most effective and efficient manner.
  • To supervise all repairs and upgrading works carried out by minor work term contractor.
  • To attend faults as reported by Operations Command Centre (OCC) for EMF equipment.
  • To manage and ensure that the EMF system are properly maintained and keep it in state of good and operational condition.
  • To conduct briefing and tool box meeting before team members start their shift work. 
  • To supervise and ensure that the team TOs carry out their duties and responsibilities safely and efficiently.
  • To provide technical advice, information and instructions to team TOs and other staffs, and ensure all drawings, diagrams, manuals, PM and CM records are kept current and updated.
  • To assist Engineering Maintenance Manager (EMM) in conducting engineering and safety analysis, investigations, and testing.
  • Carry out and/ or assist EMM in supervision of corrective maintenance, upgrading, modification work and major repair work carryout by upgrading contractors/ Land Transport Authority (LTA)/ Developer interface works as assigned by EMM. Prepare and submit reports on completion of work.
  • To comply and exercise safety at all times in accordance to Safety Procedures and conduct monthly team safety talk to team staffs.
  • To perform rotating shift duties.
  • To perform driving duty.
  • To ensure compliance with our Quality objective as stated in our QP/ WIs/ Tasklists in daily activities.
  • To undertake any other tasks or functions that are incidental or ancillary to the performance of assigned work.
  • To be responsible for the review and update of Task lists to ensure that all requirements for the work are met.
  • To carry out investigation, report accident/incident and submit the report together with a proposed preventive action to avoid future recurrence.
  • To comply with the Financial Procedures for Purchase Requisitions and Work Services, replacement and condemnation of fixed assets.
  • To coordinate with LTA on the maintenance aspects for EMF equipment and review/comment the equipment, design, drawings and manuals submission for ongoing Thomson East Coast Line Project.
  • To conduct site interactive audit session with new staff on safe isolation procedures and operation of EMF equipment.

Qualifications & Work Experience

  • Diploma in Electrical/ Mechanical Engineering from a recognized institution.
  • Relevant experience 
  • Class 3 driving licence
