Assistant Engineer, R175A & R178B
Job Purpose
The Assistant Engineer, Project Support is responsible to provide engineering expertise, project management, engineering support and technical support for multiple signaling asset replacement projects.
Responsibilities
The duties and responsibilities of an Assistant Engineer are as listed below. Note that the list is not comprehensive and related duties and responsibilities may be assigned from time to time.
- Carry-out the role of PIC and PM duties and responsibilities
- Provide attendance to attend to Permit to Work / Permit to Access request
- Supervise the Contractor’s site works (e.g. installation, testing and commissioning,
- decommissioning and removal)
- Ensure the Contractor complies the procedures as per the approved Method Statements and Testing and Commissioning procedures
- Participate in the testing and commissioning of the new system
- Perform tasks in compliance with relevant procedures and instructions contained in Method Statements, Quality Procedures, Work Specifications, Work Instructions, Signal Standing Instructions and any relevant change instructions disseminated
- Comply with and exercise safety at all times in accordance to all Safety Procedures.
- Responsible for the safety of self, peers at workplace; off and on trackside throughout working period
- Complete the necessary reports for the task at hand
- Ensure good housekeeping workplace
Qualifications & Work Experience
- Diploma in Electrical, Electronics or Mechatronics discipline.
- Experience in maintenance and troubleshooting of electronics and mechanical equipment is preferred.
Skills
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Able to work independently and as a team.
- Good supervisory, decision-making, organisation and planning skills
- Able to perform shift duties, particularly at night during non-passenger service hours, whenever required.
