Assistant Engineer, Signal & Communication


Job Purpose

To perform Preventive Maintenance (PM) and Corrective Maintenance (CM) works, repairs, overhaul servicing on all Signaling/Communications Systems and Equipment in accordance with quality and safety standards.


1.    To operate, safely and efficiently, all Signal/Communications Measuring, Test Equipment, Instruments and Tools.

2.    To lead a team of Technical officers to perform tasks in compliance with relevant procedures and instructions as contained in Quality Procedures, Work Instructions and relevant change instructions.

3.    To comply with and exercise safety in accordance to all Safety Procedures at all times.

4.    To be responsible for the safety of self, peers at workplace, off and on trackside, throughout working period.

5.    To carry-out the role, duties and responsibilities of Person-In-Charge (PIC) and Possession Master.

6.    To carry-out the role, duties and responsibilities for vehicle or passenger recovery.

7.    To complete the necessary reports for the task at hand.

8.    To plan and complete scheduled Preventive and Corrective Maintenance work on time.

9.    To follow up with Signal and Communications project matters.

10.    To lead and support staff’s training on Signal and Communications equipment.  

11.    To carry out day-to-day monitoring of equipment performance, and follow up where appropriate.

12.    To ensure authorized access to Signal Equipment Rooms and Installations,

13.    To manage and control Signaling and Communication maintenance spares.

14.    To ensure good housekeeping of the workplace.

15.    Carry out any other work as instructed by Engineering Maintenance Manager.

Qualifications & Work Experience

  • Diploma in Engineering discipline.
  • Minimum 4 years experience as Technical Officers or equivalent in related field.
  • Electrical and Electronics related work experience is preferred.
  • Possessing a Class 3 driving license is an added advantage
  • Able to commit to permanent night shift
