Assistant Engineer, Track Infrastructure Maintenance & Operational Engineering
Job Purpose
The Assistant Engineer, Track Renewal is responsible to lead and manage a team of technical Officers and contractors to carry out system-wide repair, maintenance and replacement of all track components such as rails, switches and crossings so as to support SMRT in providing safe and reliable train service to our commuters.
Responsibilities
The duties and responsibilities of an Assistant Engineer, Track Renewal are as listed below. Note that the list is not comprehensive and related duties and responsibilities may be assigned from time to time.
- Organize and plan all rail change activities
- Comply and execute tasks in accordance to Work Instructions and Procedures.
- Comply and exercise safety at all times in accordance to Safety Procedures.
- Responsible for the safety of self, peers and the track throughout the working period.
- Carry-out the role of person-in-charge (PIC) and preventive maintenance (PM) duties and responsibilities.
- Complete the necessary paper work for all tasks
- Complete rail change or built up welding works within a given time frame.
- Coordinate and supervise contractors in all rail change activities
- Supervise a team of Technical Officers for all rail change activities.
- Coordinate with other Departments involved in rail change activities
- Plan and forecast on all materials, tools and equipment needed for continuous rail change operation.
- Check and verify all leaves and claims submitted by your staff.
- Perform Ultrasonic Tests, when necessary.
- Assist in training new staff on rail change operation.
Qualifications & Work Experience
- Diploma in Mechatronics / Mechanical / Civil Engineering.
- Preferably with at least 3-4 years of experience in field maintenance.

- Able to communicate effectively and a good team player.
- Proficient in using tools and equipment.
