Assistant Engineer (Sig FS)
Job Purpose
The Assistant Engineer (Signal Field Service) supervises his team in performing preventive and corrective maintenance work on various railway signalling systems and platform screen doors. He a/so contributes to workflow improvements to enhance the reliability signalling system, as well as supervising and ensuring the work quality and safety of external contractors and stakeholders.
He may be required to perform shift duties at various rail premises such as depots, train stations, viaduct, and tunnels. He demonstrates team leadership skills in ensuring the team carries out the maintenance work in a safe and orderly manner, as well as manages the team's performance in achieving established Key Performance Indicators.
Responsibilities
- To lead team of Technical Officers in performing tasks in compliance with relevant procedures and instructions contained in Quality Procedures, Work Specifications, Work Instructions, and Signal Standing Instructions
- To assist in supervising and coaching of new staff and conducting on the job training
- To provide 1st line fault response and recovery
- To perform timely trackside CM activities including fault troubleshooting, rectification and testing
- To plan and carried out trackside PM work according to schedule
- To perform trackside equipment overhaul activities and to ensure that the programs adhere to the schedule
- To carry out day-to-day monitoring of equipment performance and follow up
- To carry out day-to-day fault analysis and follow up
- To perform tasks in compliance with relevant procedures and instructions contained in Quality Procedures, Work Specifications, Work Instructions, Signal Standing Instructions and any relevant change instructions disseminated
- To operate safely and efficiently all Signal Measuring, Test Equipment, Instruments and Tools 11. To comply with and exercise safety at all times in accordance to all Safety Procedures.
- To be responsible for the safety of self, peers at workplace; off and on trackside throughout working period/
- To carry-out the role of PIC and PM duties and responsibilities
- To complete the necessary reports for the task at hand
- To assist EMM in managing and controlling of maintenance spares
- To ensure good housekeeping at the workplace
Qualifications & Work Experience
· Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or equivalent
· Preferably 5 years’ experience as team leader in a fast paced maintenance environment
