Assistant Engineer (Trainborne)
Job Purpose
The Assistant Engineer supervises his team in performing preventive and corrective maintenance work on Trainborne Signalling & Communication systems. He also contributes to workflow improvements to enhance the reliability of the system as well as supervising and ensuring the work quality and safety of external contractors and stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Plan, supervise and lead a team of Technical Officers to perform scheduled preventive maintenance tasks in accordance with relevant procedures and instructions contained in Quality Procedures and Work Instructions.
- Plan, supervise and lead a team of Technical Officers to perform Corrective Maintenance including troubleshooting, investigation, and fault rectification on Trainborne Signalling & Communication Systems.
- Plan, supervise and lead a team of Technical Officers to perform modifications or tasks in compliance with approved method statements or work instructions.
- Plan team duty rosters in consultation with the Engineering Maintenance Manager.
- Assist in supervising and coaching new staff and conducting on-the-job training.
- Disseminate any instructions and procedures issued by supervisors to the team members.
- Perform all necessary maintenance administration and documentation (E.g. Record faults reported, raise maintenance work orders, complete work orders in the maintenance management system and any other recording system.)
- Interpret electrical, electronic and computer network single-line drawings.
- Operate Test Equipment, Instruments and Tools safely.
- The Assistant Engineer is responsible for the safety of his team. He is to comply with all Safety Procedures and exercises safety at all times. Report any safety concerns at the workplace.
- Perform the role of Person-in-Charge (PIC) and Possession Mater (PM) duties and responsibilities where applicable.
- Undertake any other tasks or functions that are incidental or ancillary to the performance of the works as assigned by the supervisor. The non-exhaustive list includes the following tasks.
a. Responding to emergency operations responses,
b. Assist in the execution of projects, including testing and commissioning, attendance to contractors, Supervise contractors' work, Preparation of reports,
c. Provide logistics support, housekeeping.
- Carry out administrative duties or any duty as assigned by the Supervisor or Branch Manager.
- Work in any of NSEWL Maintenance Depots, as assigned by supervisors.
- Work in rotating or fixed shifts as assigned by supervisors, Work at heights to perform maintenance activities, Drive company vehicle for work, as assigned by supervisors.

Qualifications & Work Experience
• Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or equivalent
• Preferably 3 years’ experience as team leader in a fast-paced maintenance environment
