Assistant Engineer Rolling Stock BPLRT

Job Purpose

1. Lead a team of Technical Officers (TO) to carry out scheduled Preventive Maintenance (PM) and Corrective Maintenance (CM) together on EMUs/Component/Equipment as assigned by managers.

2. Ensure his team comply all PM & CM works and related tasks with approved work instructions, quality procedures, safety and operational procedures, and good maintenance standards.

3. Plan and coordinate within his team and other teams to complete the assigned maintenance tasks within the established standard time.

4. Ensure his team has the necessary qualifications and authorization to carry out daily tasks and any assigned tasks by managers.

5. Attend the necessary skills courses to be able to carry out the maintenance and assigned tasks.

6. Responsible for the safety, welfare, and discipline of his team

7. Responsible for the upkeep of his team equipment/tools and working environment.

Responsibilities

1. Able to participate and complete the technical Skills training provided by SMRT and achieve the necessary qualification to perform maintenance work on SMRT Rolling Stock.

2. Responsible for his team’s quality and standards of the PM/CM works within the established standards time and be competent to carry out preventive and corrective maintenance tasks on SMRT Rolling Stock within the established standard times and in accordance with the Work Instructions and related procedures, as assigned by managers.

3. Exercise safety always; in accordance to established Safety procedures. Responsible for the safety of self and all co-workers, inclusive of contractors.

4. Demonstrate sufficient ability in diagnostic and troubleshooting electro-mechanical systems.

5. Able to forecast and plan his team and resources to complete maintenance tasks and assigned tasks timely.

6. Conduct regular engagement sessions with his team to understand his TOs better and to feedback on their performance.

7. Perform supporting maintenance activities such as Maintenance Train Shunter, overhead crane operator, forklift driver, etc, as authorized and required by the manager.

8. Perform housekeeping and cleaning tasks at the workplace; to ensure workplace order and hygiene.

9. Able to work on a shift roster system in accordance with the MOM guidelines and the Collective Agreement.

10. Undertake any other tasks or functions that are incidental or ancillary to the performance of the works assigned by Supervisor when required: e.g., respond to OCC activation to recover trains that have stalled in the network, and passenger detrainment from stalled trains.

To carry out the Preventive and Corrective Maintenance Works safely, the TO must physically:

1. Not be sensitive or allergic to Rolling Stock Materials, POLs (Petrol, Oils and lubricants) and dust involved in the conduct of the work. Note that standard PPE of safety shoes, gloves, masks and hearing protection will be provided. 

2. Able to work at height (WAH) on the train roof, while donning the necessary WAH safety equipment. 

3. Fit and able to climb staircases and ladders, stand for sufficient duration (4 hours) to accomplish the required maintenance works. 

4. Lift and handle heavy machineries, tools, equipment, or spares of up to 10kg for men and 7kg for women. 

5. Able to work underframe of EMU for sufficient duration (4 hours) which may require frequent squatting and bending. 

6. Able to work in a rotating shift system (Day and/or night shifts) without affecting his concentration at work. 

7. Able to work under the sun for train shunting and other related operations.

Qualifications & Work Experience

· Diploma in Engineering or equivalent.

. Preferably minimum 4 years in relevant experience leading maintenance teams and troubleshooting of electro-mechanical equipment.

· Basic computer skills such as Excel, MS Word and Outlook.

· Possession of class 3 driving license is preferred.
