Assistant Engineer
Job Purpose
The Assistant Engineer is responsible for performing preventive and corrective maintenance work on Communication systems. He also contributes to KAIZEN workflow improvements to enhance the reliability of the Communication systems, as well as leading a team of Technical Officers and ensuring the work quality and safety of external contractors and/or stakeholders.
He is required to perform rotating shift duties at NSEWL. He demonstrates team leadership skills, ensures the maintenance work is carried out in a safe and orderly manner, as well as contributing to the team’s performance in achieving established Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
Responsibilities
The list is not comprehensive and related duties and responsibilities may be assigned from time to time.
1) To lead a team of technical officers and carry out the maintenance of the Communication systems for North South / East West Line OCC, to ensure that the safety, reliability, and availability of the systems meet the standards agreed with the Authority.
2) Perform preventive and corrective maintenance in accordance with the work instructions and procedures.
3) To lead the team for fast response to clear system faults and rectify technical failures.
4) Perform supervision work when LTA/ SMRT contractors are working in the Communication Equipment Rooms or any other site related to communication system.
5) Carry out proper housekeeping, always ensure safety and security of Communication Maintenance Offices (CMO) and Communication Equipment Rooms (CER) and any other site related to communication system.
6) To lead the team and ensure safety plans are implemented and all safety hazards are eliminated.
7) To lead the team and ensure adherence to safety plans in maintenance works.
8) Carry out any other tasks as and when assigned and directed by Supervisors
Qualifications & Work Experience
• Applicants should possess a minimum Diploma in Electronics and Communications / Electronics / Electrical / Computer / Telecommunication Engineering from any recognized institution.
• Applicants without work experience are welcome to apply.
• Applicants should be able to work independently.
• Able to work on a 24/7 rotating shift roster system.
• Ability to identify colours.
• Fit and able to climb staircases and ladders, stand for sufficient duration (4 hours) to accomplish the required maintenance works.
• Lift and handle equipment or spares of up to 25kg
• Vaccination for essential frontline workers because work must be performed on-site and involve being in close proximity to co-workers.
