Assistant Station Manager, NSEWL

Job Purpose

You will provide excellent customer service to the passengers to make their journey with SMRT a delightful one.  You will assist in the operation and control of an MRT station, that includes monitoring of station equipment, responding to station emergencies, station patrol and other station-related duties.

During an incident or ad-hoc occurrence in station that affecting the customer services, you are expected to make sound decision and to resolve / mitigate the situation.

Responsibilities

The duties and responsibilities are listed below. The list is not comprehensive and related duties and responsibilities may be assigned from time to time.

  1. Safety and Security
  • Ensure safety of passengers, employees, contractors and public in the stations.
  • Ensure safety and security procedures are adhered to.
  • Oversee the transit security personnel and officers in stations to safeguard and protect the people and property within stations.
  1. Customer Service
  • Ensure that the customer service standards are met.
  1. Reliability
  • Promptly respond to station and train emergency. You will have to perform Operator-Maintainer tasks, while awaiting arrival of maintenance staff, to ensure the safety and reliability of train services.
  1. Cash Handling at Stations
  • Handle manual change when manning the Passenger Service Machine for sale and top-up of tickets and cards. Reconciliation of accounts and cash takings.
  • Handle cash when servicing the General Ticketing Machines and collecting takings.
  • Handle cash as part of Lost Property procedures.
  1. Station Operations, Equipment and Facilities
  • Responsible for efficient performance of stations’ equipment,
  • Cleanliness and tidiness of stations, and
  • Conservation of energy in stations.
  1. Others
  • Work closely with the cleaning contractors to ensure the standards of cleanliness in stations are met.
  • Report any equipment fault.
  • To meet the expected Service Standards and Key Performance Indicators set for station operations.
  • Improve the level of face-to-face customer service to the general commuter continually.
  • Secondary assignments such as taking charge of the station staff-room, etc.
  • Involve in projects relevant to station operations.
  1. Regular contact with the internal and external stakeholders as and when needed:
  • Departments / branches (Rail Ops) - Ensure a safe and reliable operation of train service.
  • Building & Facilities - Ensure station facilities and equipment are well maintained and faults are reported quickly.
  • SMRT Safety & Inspectorate - Issues related to safety and security processes, incidents involving staff and passengers.
  • Land Transport Authority (LTA) - Facilitate LTA staff in carrying out audit work at the stations
  • Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) - Handling of incidents in the stations
  • Singapore Police Force - Handling of incidents in the stations
  • Security Contractor - To report on absence of security officers and ensure that security checks are carried out diligently
  • Cleaning Contractor - Report on cleanliness issues at the station
  • Contractors - Carry out checks that contractors comply with safety and security procedures while working in the stations
  • Visitors - Carry out briefings for visitors on the station facilities and the operations

You will be required to perform 8-hour rotating shifts, including duties on weekends and public holidays.

Qualifications & Work Experience

  • You should have a NITEC in an Engineering discipline.

Successful candidates will undergo a structured training programme to be equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills to perform the duty of an Assistant Station Manager.
