Deputy/ Director, Logistics

Job Purpose
The job holder is responsible for the competent management of the supply chain system in the SMRT. This involves the development of supply plans and concepts for specific operational requirements, and the establishment of standards and policies to ensure quality assurance and safety in material management. The broad responsibilities included but not limited to:
• Anchoring supply chain domain expertise, from induction to Operation & Maintenance (O&M) to retirement. And responsible for Materials Management function including planning, warehousing, and distribution of materials to meet SMRT TRAINS and ROADs operation requirements.
• Responsible for Governance of Material Management including Material Planning, Inventory Management and Control, Shipping and Receiving, Repair Management, Warehouse Management and the establishment of standards and policies to ensure quality assurance and safety in material management.
• Management and strengthening of the integrated supply systems in the SMRT and development of organisational capability, supply plans and concepts for specific operational requirements of SMRT, including the harnessing of technology to enhance maintenance and logistics operations, such as information technology and logistics automation.
Responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end supply chain strategy for SMRT Trains and Roads, covering procurement, inventory, warehousing, logistics, provisioning, and asset lifecycle management.
- Develop and review supply chain policies, frameworks, and material support strategies to ensure operational readiness, cost effectiveness, and long-term sustainability.
- Drive strategic sourcing, procurement, and contract management initiatives, including the formulation and execution of supply support concepts for major contracts.
- Establish, monitor, and continuously improve supply chain performance metrics, governance standards, and operational processes.
- Oversee warehousing operations, inventory optimization, asset stewardship initiatives, and compliance with safety, security, regulatory, and audit requirements.
- Serve as the functional lead for supply chain systems (e.g., SAP, Maximo), ensuring effective governance, access controls, process integrity, and system enhancements.
- Partner with internal stakeholders and external suppliers to deliver customer-centric procurement and logistics solutions aligned with business objectives.
- Lead organizational development within the function through workforce planning, capability building, performance management, and coaching of team members.
Qualifications & Work Experience
• Degree in Business/Engineering discipline with relevant experience in logistics or supply chain management
• More than 10 years of related experience in supply management role
• Knowledge in SAP (MM functionality), Maximo and Ariba
• Experience with regulatory requirements and risk management expectations related to warehouse management would be an advantage
• Knowledge of ISO 9000 Quality Management and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) safety rules required
• Strong analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills grounded in continuous quality improvement
• Proven ability to plan and perform and have been involved in technical work presenting new or regularly changing problems, work from broad instruction, deal with complex factors not easily evaluated
• Possess excellent interpersonal skills with proven ability to develop and maintain with good working relationships with vendor, business partner and regulatory, influence decisions and collaborate effectively across the organization
• Extensive spread sheet analysis (Excel preferably with course certification) and strong mathematical abilities
• Experiences in Maintenance-Repair-Overhaul (MRO) environment is a plus.
