Engineering Maintenance Manager, Rolling Stock (TEL)

Job Purpose

To plan, organize and optimize available resources within Rolling Stock (RS), Mandai Depot to ensure train availability and equipment performance meet the set targets

Responsibilities

1. Lead, manage and supervise the teams in the Preventive Maintenance (PM) of the Trains.
2. Lead, manage and supervise the teams in the Corrective Maintenance (CM) of Trains.
3. Review and manage train faults.
4. Lead, manage and supervise the teams in troubleshooting.
5. Analyze and verify the PM/CM works and defects/faults raised.
6. Provide technical and engineering support to the section.
7. Manage tools, calibration, and spares procurement.
8. Administration and control of staff within the PM / CM Teams.
9. Raise incident/accident reports.
10. Administration of work carried out by contractor e.g. escort for downloading of logs, etc.
11. Assist Section Manager in the management of train faults, incidents and emergencies occurring on mainline.   
12. Review preventive & corrective maintenance performed by staff on Trains / Locomotives.
13. Review and update Work Instructions (WI) / Work Report (WR) / Risk Assessment (RA) periodically.
14. Raise WONs as and when necessary.
15. Manage urgent check and fleet wide activities as when required.
16. Assist Section Manager in coordinating work with other sections, e.g. Rail Operations, Signaling, Communications, and RS with regards to mainline train faults.
17. Assist in budget planning, training requirement of staff, spares availability.
18. Perform RS staff functions (e.g. certification of M/Cs, leave applications, monetary claims etc.)
19. Assist Section Manager for the proper maintenance of the Trains / Depot Equipment.
20. Responsible for safety of staff under his charge, conducting tool box meeting/audits, dissemination of safety messages and staff work in accordance to safety procedures.
21. Leader for productivity improvement, cost reduction and innovations for his team through KAIZEN.
22. Mentor for staffs.

Qualifications & Work Experience

University Degree or Polytechnic diploma in Engineering (Mechanical/ Electrical/ Marine/ etc.) or equivalent from a recognized institution. Preferably 3-5 year’s relevant experience in the railway environment.
