Executive, Train Service Controller

Job Purpose

 

The Train Service Controller (Trains) is part of the team for the North-South & East-West Line Operations Control Centre: 
 

  • Train Control duties which include regulating train service in an efficient and safe manner. 
  • Liaison duty in ensuring information flow and Communication are executed promptly and accurately including fault reporting and processing of track access activities. 
  • Communication duty in ensuring delay and disruption information are disseminated to all stake holders promptly and accurately. 

Responsibilities

 

  • To deliver train service as scheduled to meet customer satisfaction. 
  • Launching and withdrawing of passenger service trains as per timetable. 
  • To ensure all faults reported by Train Captains are accurately recorded and handed to TSC (Liaison) promptly. 
  • Carry out train reformation when trains are running out of schedule due to train fault, trackside signaling equipment failure, traction power failure and trackside incident. 
  • To liaise with train crew for train reformation, crew matters etc. 
  • To run unscheduled train (test train and or spare train) in-between the passenger service trains. 
  • To manage activities during traffic hours (To retrieve fallen items from trackside with management approval, track access by maintenance staff etc. Ensure all necessary protections are in place for the safety of all personnel on track. 
  • To manage activities after during non-traffic hours (Dispatching of Engineer’s trains from depot and returning to depot after work on mainline) 
  • TSC who is responsible for SCD (Short Circuiting Device) system must ensure that all SCDs are removed prior to switching on of traction power before Start of Traffic. 
  • To liaise with station staff in dealing with PSD or HHPSD failure, ECB activation etc. 
  • To assist and liaise with duty RSM in carrying out point exercise for Station Managers as a refresher training or qualification during non-traffic hours. 
  • To be competent in decision making through fully understand in depth each major application of the 2 critical operating systems; i.e. Communication based Train Control (CBTC) and Radio Command Control Panel (RCCP). 
  • To handle incident safely and recover service speedily. 
  • To ensure all points are fit for service before Start of Traffic Hours by carrying routine point testing. 
  • Disseminate operational information to all stations through Urgent Mail System (UMS) during train service disruption. 
  • Receive, record accurately and report all faults promptly to the respective cells in Maintenance Operation Centre (MOC) or other Maintenance Department not under MOC. 
  • Liaison and monitor maintenance work on the fire alarm system (System-wide). 
  • To ensure all visitors (Staff or non-staff) access to Control room are checked and their particulars are logged down in the Visitor’s logbook. 
  • Monitor Linear Variable Differential Transformer (LVDT) alarms. 
  • Monitor and report feedback from Real Time Apps. 
  • Monitoring and recording the reporting of oil spillage check by duty SM. 
  • Perform other duties as and when required by Chief Controller or above. 

Qualifications & Work Experience

 

  • Degree in an Engineering discipline or Degree in other discipline with relevant engineering work experience 
  • Able to perform rotating shifts, including duties on weekends and on public holidays.
