Executive Engineer, Permanent Way Engineering (Conditional Monitoring)


Job Purpose



1. Ensure a safe, reliable and efficient operation of the PWY CdM systems in accordance to the respective system’s concept of operations by

  •  Ensure currency of Operation plan for train-borne CdM systems and defining KPIs in line with department needs
  • Prepare annual team budgets; monitors operating expenses; makes necessary adjustments to achievement of budgetary targets

2. Ensure PWY CdM systems’ data availability and accuracy/quality by:

  • Coordinating with relevant stakeholders for asset deployment
  • Regular inspection and monitoring of equipment to ensure they are in good working condition. o Develop troubleshooting guides for efficient response on system failure
  • Ensure software and data handling scripts are functional and version is archived
  • Develop new data processing scripts o Maintain spares and tools listing and availability for all PWY CdM systems
  • Maintain competency of CdM team’s AEs and TOs to perform the required taskings
  • Maintain currency of training programs to ensure competency level for staff
  • Maintain currency of Work Instructions and the team’s compliance to maintenance procedures, WI, RA and WSH requirements.
  • Maintain knowledge management of manuals, defect investigations, Work Instructions (WIs) and processes

3. Ensure the response to CdM alerts is carried out timely according to the written procedures and instructions

4. Ensure that requested Cdm data is provided accurately and timely to PWY maintenance and PWY engineering for track related investigation and emergency response

5. Ensure CdM team discipline and attendance by o Conduct periodic staff engagement with Assistant Engineers (AEs) and Technical Officers (TOs)

  • Supervise team in their daily duties

6. Ensure operational capability of PWY condition monitoring fleet by

  • Providing user domain expertise to new projects o Delivery and operationalization of new/replacement CdM equipment
  • Decommissioning of CdM equipment that has reached the end of its indicative life

7. Other duties arising from business needs or as assigned.

Qualifications & Work Experience

  • Degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering from a recognized institution.
  • Able to make data driven decisions with positive attitude with a good command of English
  • Able to lead by example and communicate effectively with stakeholders
  • Able to work Night shifts when required 
  • Basic competency in Excel, Python and/or Matlab
