Executive / Senior Engineer, Mechanical & Electrical Engineering
Job Purpose
The Executive Engineer / Senior Engineer in the M&E Engineering Department shall be responsible to perform engineering analytics, provide engineering solutions and perform defect investigations to support the Mechanical, Electrical and Electronic Systems of the SMRT Trains, Engineering Trains and Plant Equipment. He shall be required to independently conduct defect troubleshooting, failure analysis, reliability trending, engineering analytics of condition monitoring systems and develop engineering solutions to the problems identified. He shall also be required to conduct data engineering, data analytics and generate visualizations to recommend actionable insights for maintenance and engineering
departments in SMRT.
Responsibilities
- Work in any SMRT Maintenance Depots or facilities and comply with all Safety
Requirements. - Work in rotating or fixed shifts (in accordance with MOM guidelines).
- Perform engineering analytics of condition monitoring data and trending of defect data to derive engineering insights and identify areas for reliability and safety improvements.
- Develop data engineering pipelines for extracting, transforming, and loading data for different data sets.
- Develop data analytics and condition monitoring capabilities to support the evolution from preventive to predictive maintenance.
- Develop engineering solutions, propose relevant modifications and work with Ops and Maintenance team to implement and validate safety and effectiveness of the solutions.
- Identify and consolidate engineering standards for the respective mechanical, electrical and electronics system.
- Conduct certification of mechanical, electrical, and electronic workshop in accordance with the SMRT Workshop certification procedures.
- Develop work instructions, test parameters, test jigs and test benches to enhance workshop repair and overhaul capability.
- Identify / develop / evaluate alternate parts, out-of-manual repair and modifications to support obsolescence management of existing SMRT Trains assets.
- Perform defect investigation to identify root cause and follow-up, including developing of fault tree analysis, FEMCA and conduct of forensic investigation.
- Perform review of project design specifications to support LTA and SMRT projects to ensure adequate safety, reliability, maintainability and operability considerations.
- Perform other tasks as assigned by supervisor.
Qualifications & Work Experience
Degree in Mechanical / Electrical / Electronics Engineering / Computer Science / Computing
or equivalent from a recognised institution.
Demonstrated programming competency in Python or equivalent programming languages.
Demonstrated dashboarding competency in PowerBI or equivalent dashboarding software.
Previous Railway System experience would be advantageous.
Skills
Strong leadership and interpersonal skills. Comfortable to work hands-on in a maintenance
workshops environment alongside other Engineers, Assistant Engineers, and Technical
Officers.
Able to work independently and as a team effectively adjusting oneself flexibly to different work
situations.
Able to independently conduct data analytics to generate actionable results.
Able to independently visualize data to explain concepts, insights, and trends.
Adept with diagnostics and reliability engineering methods such as FMECA, Fault Tree
analysis, Weibull analysis and Damage Tolerance Analysis, etc.
Strong analytical and decision-making abilities.
Effective organizational and planning skills.
Fluent in written and oral communication skills in English.
