Executive / Senior Engineer
Job Purpose
The Executive Engineer, BPLRT Rolling Stock, is to provide engineering solutions to reliability problems affecting Rolling Stock. He will be required to independently conduct defect troubleshooting, failure analysis, reliability trending, and develop engineering solutions to the problems identified.
Responsibilities
- Work in any SMRT Maintenance Depots or facilities.
- Work in rotating or fixed shifts (i.a.w. MOM guidelines).
- Work at heights to perform engineering activities (Training and qualifications will be provided by company).
- Support in budget planning and prudent use of budget.
- Comply with quality procedures, workplace safety and health requirements, security regulations and safety requirements.
- Work effectively with Ops and Maintenance staff from the Lines as well as other engineering departments to investigate defects. To develop methods, propose modifications and improve maintenance strategies to rectify them.
- Analyse and trend condition monitoring and defect data to identify reliability concerns. To develop methods, propose modifications and improve maintenance strategies to overcome them
- Draft technical work instructions for preventive and corrective maintenance activities.
- Identify and implement cost effective technologies to enhance performance and reliability of the systems.
- Review and update System Hazard Log and Risk Register.
- Support LTA and SMRT projects in reviewing project design specifications and ensure their adequacy for the safety, reliability, maintainability and operability. To provide other engineering support to the projects, as required.
- Identify and report any safety concerns at the workplace.
- Undertake any other tasks or functions that are incidental or ancillary to the performance of the works, as assigned by supervisor. (Training and qualifications will be provided by company, as required). Examples include
- Perform admin functions
- Respond to operations emergencies
- Support the execution of projects; including verifying contractor’s work completion, providing manpower to support project testing & commissioning, attendance to contractors, etc
- Preparation of reports
Qualifications & Work Experience
Degree in Mechanical / Electrical / Electronics Engineering from a recognised institution
Previous Railway System experience would be advantageous.
Skills
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills. Comfortable to work hands-on in a maintenance workshops environment alongside other Engineers, Assistant Engineers and Technical Officers. Must also be able to work in different shift timings, when required.
- Adept with diagnostics and reliability engineering methods such as FMECA, Fault Tree analysis, Weibull analysis and Damage Tolerance Analysis, etc.
- Strong analytical and decision-making abilities
- Effective organizational and planning skills
- Fluent in written and oral communication skills in English
