Finance Controller
Job Purpose
As Deputy Director, Finance, your role involves assisting the Group Chief Financial Officer in overseeing the financial activities of a business group with consolidated annual revenues of over S$150 million, with matrix reporting to the business unit’s CEO. Your role is pivotal in ensuring the financial health of the business group and unlocking the value of the business franchise.
Responsibilities
The duties and responsibilities of Deputy Director, Finance, are as listed below. Note that the list is not comprehensive and related duties and responsibilities may be assigned from time to time.
• Financial Planning
Assist in the development of financial strategies, budgets, and forecasts to support the organization’s goals and objectives.
• Financial Reporting
Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting, including preparing financial statements, analysing financial data, and presenting figures to senior management or the board of directors.
• Internal Controls
Implement and monitor internal control procedures to safeguard assets, ensure compliance with regulations and mitigate financial risks.
• Financial Analysis
Conduct financial analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement, and provide recommendations to enhance financial performance.
• Cash Management
Manage cash flow, liquidity, and investments to optimize financial resources and meet the organization’s funding needs.
• Risk Management
Assess financial risks and developing strategies to manage and mitigate them effectively, such as currency risk, interest rate risk or credit risk.
• Financial Compliance
Ensure compliance with financial regulations, accounting standards, and internal policies. Coordinate audits and examinations by external parties.
• Strategic Initiatives
Participate in strategic planning and decision-making processes, provide financial expertise and analysis to support the evaluation and implementation of strategic initiatives, including post-merger integration of enterprise systems and work processes.
Qualifications & Work Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent, in a recognised University/Institution.
• Professional certification with a recognised accounting body preferred e.g. Chartered Accountant or Certified Public Accountant.
• Proven experience (at least 10 years) in finance management.
• Prior Big 4 public accounting experience, preferably in a managerial capacity will be an advantage.
• Proven organizational and time management skills, ability to manage numerous projects simultaneously, ability to set and meet deadlines.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Strong team management and interpersonal skills.
• Strong knowledge of accounting/financial concepts and best practices.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools such as MS-Excel, MS-Word, MS-Outlook, MS-PowerPoint, MS-Teams, etc.
• Proficiency in accounting software is advantageous.
