Head of Department, Specialised Vehicles (SV)
Job Purpose
As the Head of Department for Specialized Vehicles (SV), your role is to oversee the smooth running of SV workshops. You'll coordinate servicing, maintenance, and repairs, manage schedules, ensure workshop safety, and collaborate with the Engineering team. Your responsibilities include financial management, report preparation, cost reduction, and fostering a culture of teamwork and improvement. You'll also represent the workshop in meetings with stakeholders.
Responsibilities
The duties and responsibilities of the Head of Department for Specialised Vehicles (SV) are as listed below. Note that the list is not comprehensive and related duties and responsibilities may be assigned from time to time.
• Collaborate with Officer-in-Charge (OIC) of 4 SV workshops to coordinate and supervise servicing, maintenance and repairs for all SV, including bowsers, tractors, loaders, etc
• Manage and structure work schedules in alignment with the fleet's requirements
• Organize and maintain good workshop housekeeping, workshop supplies, machinery, and tooling, ensuring regular inspections for proper and safe operation
• Collaborate with Engineering team to coordinate and develop Engineering changeouts on SV, when required
• Respond and investigate incidents in workshops and/or work environment as well as develop the necessary reports and follow-ups and brief the client, when required
• Update or develop Standard Operating Procedures, Work Instructions or documentations, when required
• Responsible for P&L reporting, annual budgeting, planning and KPI tracking
• Prepare daily and monthly reports on workshops
• Drive workshop business operations, materials and overall costs reductions
• Ensure workshop staff discipline and safety compliance.
• Lead and implement Safety, Security and Training initiatives for the workshops
• Lead and implement Kaizen initiatives to improve processes of the workshops or special projects assigned
• Uphold the work culture that promotes good work attitude and teamwork and conduct regular performance review with staff to ensure company's objectives are met.
• Attend meetings with both external and internal stakeholders on workshop matters.
Qualifications & Work Experience
• Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or related field preferred
• At least 5-8 years of relevant experience
• Proven experience in workshop management, preferably in a specialized vehicles or heavy equipment environment
• Warranty and campaign administration experience would be an added advantage

• Financial acumen with experience in budgeting, cost control, and P&L management.
