Installation Engineer / Senior Engineer

Job Purpose

 

The Installation Engineer must fully understand the project contract requirements to execute the work efficiently. Punctuality at work and for other appointments is both important and essential. You are responsible for overseeing and managing the installation phase of CCTV projects, ensuring that installations are carried out timely, efficiently, safely, and in compliance with project specifications and industry standards. You will also coordinate with clients, project managers, and other stakeholders to ensure that all project requirements are met.

Responsibilities

 

1. Project Planning:
    a. Collaborate with installation manager to review project requirements and develop installation plans.
    b. Assist installation manager create installation schedules, allocate resources, and set milestones.
    c. To attend and update work progress for the monthly construction and or progress meeting if required. (Venue LTA office)
    d. To plan and adhere to all key dates for the installation works.

 

2. Supervision:
    a. Manage and supervise installation teams, including technicians and subcontractors.
    b. Provide guidance, direction, and support to ensure efficient and high-quality installations.
    c. Working Hours, majority of the work will be executed during Engineering hours from 2359hrs till 0700hrs the next morning.
    d. To have a buddy system in-place covering your unavailability for work.

 

3. Site Management:
    a. Overall, in charge of site installation works.
    b. Assist Installation manager on day-to-day management of site including work planning & scheduling, monitoring of progress of work.
    c. For all installation works to be carried out on site shall include but not limited to manage, plan and or application of track access, permit to work (PTW), critical room access, fire alarm isolation etc.
    d. Prepare and develop, megger and insulation test forms for all site system testing records.
    e. To provide updates on the work progress for the work done daily and send via WhatsApp together with photos for that day's work. (e.g. Toolbox and site installation progress photos)

 

4. Quality Assurance:
    a. Ensure that CCTV installations adhere to design specifications and industry standards.
    b. Conduct on-site inspections to verify work quality and compliance.
    c. Responsible for on-site quality plan implementation.
    d. Ensure that train services are not affected by the installation works.

 

5. Safety Compliance:
    a. Promote a safe working environment and enforce safety protocols.
    b. Responsible for on-site environmental, health & safety plan implementation.

 

6. Client Interaction:
    a. Communicate with clients to schedule installations and address any installation-related inquiries or concerns.
    b. Maintain positive client relationships and ensure high levels of customer satisfaction.

 

7. Problem Solving:
    a. Identify and address technical and logistical challenges during installations.
    b. Collaborate with technical teams to troubleshoot and resolve issues promptly.

 

8. Documentation:
    a. Maintain accurate records of installation activities, including work logs, equipment used, and any changes made during installation that deviated from the original design and to be updated in all the working copies of the ELARDS.
    b. Update design team on all changes made to the ELARDs and prepare for the As-Built submission, including but not limited to mounting support shop drawings
    c. Prepare and develop installation method of statements and risk assessments for the CCTV replacement activities prior to any execution of site work.

 

9. Night Shift Installation Work
    a. For full-time night installation work, the standard working hours will generally be from 11:00 hrs to 06:00 hrs the following morning. Site engineers are expected to use public transportation for commuting to and from work.

Qualifications & Work Experience

 

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, electronics with minimum 3 years related field of experience (or equivalent experience).
• Diploma in Electronic / Electrical Engineering with minimum 5 years related field of experience.
• Proven experience in managing and supervising in LTA projects.
• Experience in the railway industry will be an added advantage.
• Strong technical knowledge of CCTV systems and equipment.
• Excellent leadership and team management skills.
• Proficiency in project management and scheduling software.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices.
