Manager, Control Ops

 

Job Purpose

The Integrated Maintenance and Diagnostic Centre (IMDC) Manager coordinates defect management, oversees all maintenance activities, and supports rail operations and incident management through close working relationship with all stakeholders and in accordance with prevailing procedures, processes, and regulations. The Manager manages a multi-disciplined team of experienced technical professionals and enhances the response and recovery through the various systems enablers.

The Manager leads his team to achieve the desired organization goals safely, timely and of high-quality standards. The Manager oversees staff performance, develops individual growth and coaches his team to ensure competency and relevancy to IMDC operations. The Manager conducts reviews and audits to drive continuous improvement.

The Manager must be a team player who possesses leadership, critical thinking, interpersonal skillsets and must be able to work under stressful time-sensitive conditions.
 

Responsibilities

The IMDC Manager is responsible for:

  • The coordination of defect management and maintenance activities.
  • The IMDC support to rail operations and incident management.
  • His team’s performance, development, and standards.

 

Critical Work Functions

1. Manage defects and oversees maintenance activities.

  • Coordinate communications with relevant stakeholders relating to engineering defects and recovery.
  • Deploy field teams after detailing nature of faults.
  • Support OCC in recovery actions.
  • Follow up on defect rectification to close loop. 

 

2. Supports rail operations and incident management.

  • Manage overall operations in IMDC.
  • Handle engagement with authorities and other internal/external stakeholders.
  • Ensure adherence to Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) policies, procedures and regulations when carrying out work at the workplace.
  • Ensure adherence to physical and cyber security policies, procedures and regulations when carrying out work at the workplace.

 

3. Manage people and team performance.

  • Manage performance in achieving Key Performance Indicators (KPI).
  • Engage staff to identify strengths and weakness for improvement.
  • Set directions and formulate progression plan.
  • Chart out staff's contribution and work year arrangement.

 

4. Drive continuous improvement activities.

  • Review processes and procedures.
  • Develop and optimize processes and procedures. 
  • Conduct audits to identify and address non-compliance in processes and procedures.
  • Identify defect trends for IMDC controller’s analysis.
  • Budgeting for expenditures.
     

Qualifications & Work Experience

  • Degree in any discipline preferably in Engineering or Diploma in Engineering with more than 7 years of railway experience in an Operation & Maintenance environment. 
  • Must be able to work under Control Centre environment, able to analysis situation systematically even under stressful scenario to make sound decision and provide leadership to various cell controllers under his charge.
  • Able to work on rotating shift.
