Manager, Ops Innovation

Job Purpose

 

Reports to Senior Manager, Planning & Innovation, the Manager, Ops Innovation will plan, develop, grow and steer innovation culture in North-South and East-West Lines by keeping abreast of innovations, emerging technology to match identified problems to solutions for deployment.

 

  • Develop schemes, processes and guide teams to grow the innovation culture and mind-sets in NSEWL
  • Integrate, manage and support innovation process across departments & projects from conception to finish and aids in resource management, process development and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Support in the planning and implementing of the division or dept’s strategic and long-term goals
  • Coordinate and provide analysis & specialist advice to support decision-making, work improvement, planning and new initiatives in accordance to NSEWL policies, procedures and strategic priorities 

Responsibilities

 

  • Design, research, develop, analyses and recommend new concepts as well as strategies for performance improvement, quality and operational effectiveness
  • Prepare, monitor and support Innovation Management KPIs and Measurements
  • Design and drive innovation initiatives, contribute knowledge and expertise on latest trends and technology and recommend relevant initiatives to improve processes, quality, operational effectiveness and performance
  • Assessing the relevance and suitability of methodology and technology for operational adoption
  • Build an effective information network and stay connected and update management on relevant current and upcoming research, technologies, methods and industry trends
  • Prepare concept and results-based reports and presentations, communicating to technical and non-technical audiences
  • Coordinate a work environment of continuous review and improvement by overseeing and reporting on process and service efficiency and implementing performance improvement measures using the Kaizen methodology
  • Assist in developing strategies in guiding NSEWL to plan, budget and track performances 
  • Other ad-hoc work and projects assigned from time to time

Qualifications & Work Experience

 

  • Relevant experience in managing or driving innovation
  • Experience in rail industry and similar role is an advantage
  • Degree of any discipline, preferably in Engineering
  • Proficient Microsoft office
  • Strong communication and writing skills to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders
  • Able to multi-tasks, manage expectations and timeline

  • Ability to solve problems creatively and navigating complexities
  • Program design / project management skills
  • Self-motivated and resourceful, able to work across functional areas and engage multiple parties 
  • Able to work well in a team

Technical skills:
Knowledge in the following areas will be advantageous :

  • Railway Operations & Safety Requirements
  • SAP, ACE, Ariba System
