Manager, Trainer Development

Job Purpose
The Training Development team designs and delivers initiatives that build workplace trainer capability, aligned with SMRT’s core values and strategic goals. Working closely with senior management and external partners/agencies to strengthen the workplace learning ecosystem.
Reporting to the Lead, Training Development, you will serve as a role model for workplace learning and manage external and associate trainers. You will also support key learning and development activities, including onboarding, leadership and service course development and delivery, and technical training.
At times, you will also be involved in:
- Developing bite-sized learning/training and digital resources.
- Reviewing, designing, developing, and validating curriculum and courseware.
- Providing continuous improvement of existing training programmes.
- Managing and liaising with external training providers on course scheduling.
- Procuring external course aimed at developing both staff and workplace trainers.
Responsibilities
- Function as role model for workplace learning and able to provide support and guidance to workplace trainers.
- Drive the review and promulgation of the workplace trainer framework across all business domains.
- Develop and enhance the team’s capability in the areas of emerging learning technological trends, workplace learning, advanced pedagogy, skills-based curricula, and integrative assessment.
- Assess learning needs with stakeholder to understand learning outcomes and business objectives.
- Facilitate learning across multiple delivery modes.
- Facilitate engagement sessions with workplace trainers to sustain an effective Community of Practice (CoP).
- Evaluate trainer and curriculum effectiveness through trainer observations.
- Provide quality management interventions for training content and delivery.
- Support business continuous improvement activities.
- Implement review processes to assess compliance with organisation's policies.
- Manage stakeholders to build relationships and drive collaboration.
- Collaborate with external agencies to build and support the learning eco-system within SMRT.
Qualifications & Work Experience
- Degree qualifications in Engineering, Learning Sciences, Vocational Education and Training, or equivalent from a recognised university.
- 6 years of working experience with at least 4 years of experience in education and/or training-related fields such as learning and development, or workforce development.
- Possess the WSQ Advanced Certificate in Learning and Performance (ACLP 2.0) is a must.
- Relevant working experience in an Institute of Higher Learning, and/or an adult education organisation, mentoring and coaching for on-the-job training will be an advantage.
- Track record in designing, developing, and executing training programme, preferably one that involves the deployment of an OJT blueprint.
- Proficient in delivering stand-up facilitation and training to all levels of staff.
- Open to learning and adapting to evolving work needs, including the use of emerging AI tools for training and data analysis.
- Able to engage and manage stakeholders at all levels through highly effective negotiation and conflict management skills.
- Good understanding of the Skills Framework (SFw) and workplace learning methodologies.
- A team player who possesses excellent communication skills with good problem-solving skills.
- A self-starter who is resilient and adaptable to change in a fast-paced environment that requires multi-tasking.
