Senior Executive, Media Relations

 

Job Purpose

 

As a team member in Corporate Communications, you will contribute to the development and execution of communication strategies aimed at enhancing the company's public image and reputation. Your key responsibilities will include managing media relations, contributing to creating content for social media and supporting other key initiatives in Corporate Communications. You will work closely with cross-functional teams within the company to build goodwill and secure positive media coverage, thereby strengthening SMRT’s position as a leading multi-modal transport operator in Singapore. 

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Enhance SMRT’s reputation by proactively managing public perceptions and building positive relationships with media and stakeholders.
  • Coordinate and draft press releases, service announcements, and responses to media inquiries.
  • Support and execute publicity plans in collaboration with internal stakeholders, partners and media outlets.
  • Ability to respond in a timely manner as a key member of the incident team, supporting in the execution of communication strategies during unplanned events or crises.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to align communication strategies with business objectives.
  • Support the planning and execution of communication-related events, such as press conferences, media briefings, research and stakeholder engagement activities.
  • Monitor media coverage and analyse the effectiveness of communication strategies, providing insights and recommendations for improvement.

Qualifications & Work Experience

 

  • Diploma / Degree in Mass Communications, Public Relations, Marketing or relevant discipline
  • At least 3-5 years of experience in corporate communications, media relations, or public relations
  • Experience in handling media inquiries, writing press releases, managing communications strategies and projects

Skills

 

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling messages in a timely manner.
  • Proactive team player with excellent interpersonal skills to manage campaigns, events and projects. 
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines. 
  • Keen eye for details. 
  • Experience in Crisis Communications is a plus
