Service Captain
Job Purpose
Service Captains play an important role in operating the Sentosa Express, ensuring a safe, reliable, and efficient commute for island visitors. This includes checking and preparing the train for service, ensuring procedures are strictly adhered to.
Responsibilities
- Adhere strictly to the duty schedule and train service timetable. Ensure the train arrives and departs on time.
- Ensure punctuality in handing/taking over of train.
- Report alarms or any unusual occurrences to Operations Command Centre (OCC). Deal with monorail-borne defects and resetting procedures according to SOP.
- Handling train system, signalling, and equipment fault. E.g., PGD/PSD failure, ETS/ESB operations.
- Performing intervention procedures during train breakdown; and when required, to prepare and conduct train coupling and/or push/pull back to the depot according to approved procedures.
- Carrying out platform duty and ensuring the smooth transfer of guests at the platform.
- Making announcements and communicating with guests to keep them updated on the situation during service disruptions or emergencies.
- Performing driving in manual mode when deployed as per schedule.
- Carrying out visual checks on any external factors impeding into Sentosa Express demarcation zone, tracks/track switches condition, wayside equipment, and platform doors conditions.
- Checking and reporting train status to OCC on any abnormalities on the train and along monorail track routes.
- Assisting to evaluate the operating situation with OCC on matters affecting train service.
- Assisting guests to board trains, e.g., assisting guests with prams, providing information on wayfinding, etc.
- Handling and managing detrainment of guests to the nearest station as directed by OCC.
- Performing emergency rescue operations for a stranded train in accordance with approved procedures.
- Performing running test/pre-revenue testing after the train’s corrective and preventive maintenance works.
- Opening and closing Sentosa Express stations.
- Facilitating urgent corrective maintenance works during and after revenue hours.
- Providing information to Sentosa guests, not limited to transportation, attractions, way-finding information, ongoing island attraction promotions, events, etc.
- Providing feedback/communication on crowd situation status at stations to OCC and SDC Command Centre(s).
- Required to perform 2 rotating shift work based on the duty roster, including weekends and Public Holidays.
Qualifications & Work Experience
- Recognized NITEC or equivalent and assessed to be competent in accordance with industry standards.
